Zeal - Any good for SE rankings?

Any of you know much about the Zeal directory, and whether it makes any big difference with your SE rankings?

I read in a few places it was really important, so I've passed their quiz to enter, and uploaded a few pages but no replies yet. It seems like a cool place, but not the most intuative when it comes to finding out whats going on with your submissions.

Any advice or opinions would be cool!

I'm not too familiar with that one, but i just started diving in head first to SEO. It seems to be like DMOZ.org an open directory project, the important thing is to make sure you categorize your site properly. The idea is that you will get your site in foront of those who are looking for it, the boottom line is that it is relevent to those who want it, that is what google puts emphasis on.

I think that's the one where, after signing up, you need to complete the 20 points questionaire first before using the service? I signed up a while back and got totally frustrated because after the signup they request you to complete the questionaire. Think they belong to Teoma? Think that's the one..

One reason why DMOZ is important is because its content is copied to various other directories, hence for every listing you have in DMOZ you might get many more other references on the web. HotBot, Lycos, Netscape are just some of the others who receive results from DMOZ.

yeh, zeal was a right pain in the arse to get a listing with. I had to complete the quiz, then it took me about an hour to figure out how to add a listing, after which I had no response for about 4 days. I contacted a 'Zealot', who told me the only way to get listed is to contact them direct through the message board, as their current system doesn't work. bit of a joke really!

To improve your search engine ranking, it is better to submit your site in the relevant section of directories as many as you can and link exchange is also good thing to improve search engine ranking provided that your partner's site has good PR . IMO, PR 1-5 are good one.
For zeal.com, I have just check that they have PR 8. So, IMO, it is not worth to submit over there.
