yep, totally in agreement with you guys - we're getting shed loads more visits from msn, and it seems to be updating it's index insanely quickly. We seem to publish an article one day, and get searches for it the next day, which is wicked. Not quite sure about Yahoo - their bots have only visited a couple of times, and we don't seem to get much from them. Perhaps they're not keen on our dynamic URLs.... not sure. Might look into that whole mod_rewrite thingy for the dynamic URLs, although it seems to be fine with Google and MSN, which makes me think its best just to leave it. Any of you know much about mod_rewrite and if its worth using? |

My interpretation of the dynamic url debate: Think of urls like a boat on an ocean, You (google) dive off and swim around, if your boat is anchored (fixed url) you cant get back easliy beacuse your boats is not going anywhere, but boats with no anchor float off and can be hard (not impossible) to get back to. The odd solid non-dynamic inbound link is a good thing, but I have seen many sites with dynamic urls rank well - content as usual. |
