dmoz.

hi guys,

has anyone had a site accepted into DMOZ in the past few months? i know there's usually a wait of around 3 months to get in, but i've submitted sites at the start of the year which still haven't got in...

with all this talk of dmos dying and corruption within the moderator ranks, are they even bothering with new submissions nowadays?

I haven't submitted anything to DMOZ in ages, basically for the reasons you mention

Properly building a site & ensuring the content is relevant seems to do enough for me in terms of SERPS - I let the spiders do the rest

Last time I submitted it got in a week.
All depends which cunt is in charge of that category. People only do it so they can get their sites listed anyway.

Sites generally get listed in my category in a few days. (YES, I'm a DMOZ editor! - NO - I can't help unless your business is in Barry, South Wales!)

If there is no editor listed for the category then you could be waiting years, as I have with one of my sites. Now fed up of waiting I've applied to be an editor of that category as well.......

There are a fair few editors who do not play by the rules, http://www.corruptdmozeditor.com is a good example of people abusing their positions (Im NOT connected with that site!) but they are usually caught pretty quickly and banned from DMOZ along with all of their sites.....

Oli, didn't you apply to be an editor?????

Agreed. Getting a site added to DMOZ is like trying to win the $30m lottery these days. From my experience you've got two chances of being listed - fat and none. It's a crying shame as it is such a fantastic resource that seems to have fallen into a black hole. I concentrate on Google and getting backlinks.
