how to determin the value of a website
We were approached recently to sell a site we own. It has a google rank of 12 with over 300 clicks per day in a very lucrative area. We have done no SEO in years so getting it back to page one would only take a little work. To get a 1-3 slot with a google ad in this search would cost $5-$8 per click. Any ideas on how we would go about determining the value of the site? Thanks, Rachel |

The earnings method does not make sense here as anyone buying it is going to do so for how high it comes up on a google search, and change the way the site earns money. Right now we sell advertising, but a buyer would do direct sales with it, we just don't want to go into that business. I may have used the wrong wording when I said page rank of 12. If you do a search, it is the second site on the second page. It has been as high as the second site on the first page, but we have not done much with it for a while. As to Alexa it is: Alexa.com U.S. traffic rank: 276,934 Alexa.com link popularity: 72 I am not sure what "info presents" means. Thanks, Rachel |

What I have is that traditional valuation methods are failing me. To get the kind of traffic we get, using Google ads would cost more than $60K per month. I don't see anyone paying over $600,000 for the site, so I am trying to figure out a good way to value it. One of the companies in the business has the number 2 spot organically and they still pay for the number 1-3 google ad spot, so maybe I am wrong. Thanks, Rachel |
