Hi not sure if this is the right place to post, but i have discovered there is a need for some sort of network for young designers. i posted on a couple of other forums, and got a decent response. I was wondering what people thought. as i am uk based, i have set it up for the uk. So - the rules are: Any internet designer or coder under 22 can join, and can stay until they are 25. All members must provide a real name to us. All members must have a live website. All members must have a publishable email address. All members must abide by the code of conduct. All members must be UK residents. hope this isnt classed as spam! lol |

the point, as i can see, is that it will (hopefully) become recognised and show people that, although you are young, you actually care about providing a good service! that was my view,if anyone can think of any others all the better! |

yes, but that is not the same. young creatives network is for designers and artists, yes some web. this is for internet, so there is a bit of difference. Sorry if i didnt make that clear. I actually decided to set it up, and it is going quite well so far. Its called the UK Young Internet Alliance (ukyia for short), google it. I've also managed to get magazine features in two UK design mags, not sure if I am allowed tell you which though. |

I think it's a good idea, although I'm concerned that I'm no longer classed as being young and will be "sacked" on my up and coming 25th birthday! On a serious note, however, I do think this is a good idea. I'm forming a creative network in Yorkshire for young designers, focused on the graphics industry, based on a model I was involved with in my previous home town of Edinburgh. We're probably going to be targeting a slightly wider audience in that we're holding events for under 30s, as well as displaying the work of those in the Yorkshire and Humber regions via our website. We'll also be posting video and pod casts to encourage a community feel. However, please don't feel put out if you're outside this area! I just happen to be new to Leeds and feel there's not enough support out there for new creatives. Still in the early stages but it's good to see others initiating similar models as unfortunately one size doesn't fit all and people want choice, so why not set up more similar style groups? I for one think YCN is great. However, it is quite London-focused. |
