Newspaper/ Magazine Ads

Hi all,

Does anyone have any help on this?

Are there companies around that we can talk to that liaise with the media (newspapers/ magazines) so that we can place ads for clients in sepcific sections of publications?

I know we can do this ourselves but finding the rate card for each publication - but are there 3rd parties that can do it to save us time?

Any help appreciated,

Thanks

You need a media agency. The larger the order volume will be - the higher the discounts (but you have to be a good negociator)

if we're working with a client that is only looking for the occasional ad here and there how does that work? i'd appreciate any help you can give, or suggestions regarding decent, fairly priced companies - the client is a charity.

Yeah a media agency is what you're after. If you're based in London there will be absolutely loads.
We have an actual media department that deals with all that stuff. Basically, a lot of the time they are just ringing up publications and asking to speak to someone about placing an ad in that publication. They will ring up new ones everyday. If you wanted to cut out the middle man you could try doing this yourself but it's quite time consuming and you really need to know what you're doing.

rule 1. never pay the full fee. most magazines are never full, so if you bide your time you can always get them down, sometimes to around half the fee.

I have to say magazine advertising has a better return on investment than google adwords or other forms of advertising.

My client recently placed an advert in the Grazia magazine in the UK. The advert was actually a paid article about there product and how good it was.

He managed to recoup his cost for the advert in about 5 days of sales after this. Now that is impressive.
