post in forum, submit article with your link to the website like digg,
or make a blog for your website,or submit your website to the dictionary.
These all are good methods.You just need time.

Blog posting, forum posting, directory submission, participate in Digg and social networking site will help you in getting traffic; exchanging with relevent site also helps a lot.

I have a Myspace advert and also a picture of a model on hotornot with my website listed as one of her 'favourites' in her Hotlist.
On myspace I have lots of celebrities as my friends and obviously people viewing their profiles may see me listed as one of their friends and check out my site. I find it best to create a basic page that looks like a 'normal' new user, Email all these celebs and after they accept you, change your profile to one big advert!

I also have links to a dating site I own on other dating sites that I know are not moderated properly and I know that the adverts will go un-noticed

Also try doing a google search for 'Free Website Advertising'. This is only good if you are able to edit the homepage of your site as most of these sites ask for a link in return.
Some people may be put off by this but after trying it with a couple of sites recently I have found my sites appeared on the search engines pretty quickly.

If you want to be in forums and advertise sites, be an active member and just make good and useful posts, people see your activity and will visit your links provided in sig.

Hey, I do not know about any free marketting strategies that are going to really boost your traffic. I always go by the rule that if somethings free then its never really worth anything.

I would like to point you in the direction of a new advertising scheme I came across, priced at $1 to register your website on. It certainly generated me some extra traffic. Maybe you should check it out.

Why don't you (especially if you're on a tight budget,) focus less on shelling out money to "linklists" or whatever, and instead let Google sort you out? - Certain "services" seems so silly (not aiming specifically to this thread) that you _have_ to fscking know it's a bad deal, and it's kind of shitty to give the impression that the majority of these are anything otherwise..

Best to let the shitpeddlers go bust than to encourage the crud; - they do that crap because it "works," after all; idiots pay them money.
