Its good if you target your keywords carefully :: ie. A webhosting company - dont target words like 'webhosting' 'uk webhosting' this will cost you loads as there will be loads of sites competing for them. Rather - 'uk php hosting' 'london based webhosts' 'webhosting companies in london' - spread the cash on more targetted keywords - you will get less clicks on each one, but you will pay a cheaper price and the traffic will be more specific. |

Anyway, I've used Google Adwords before and in my experience it's only decent value if the website you're advertising is a niche market or has a small number of competitors. Otherwise it can get a bit costly! |

Sign up for an account - takes about 5 minutes. Get familiar with the set up and you'll see that you can specify a monthly/weeley/daily ad budget - once the budget has been reached your ads will not show, until the next period is opened. Google Adwords are a great - as you can top the Organic results for very targetted keyword matches - like Oli mentions. However this can be done using SEO to get you in the organic listings - has more longevity and will cost less long term. Also - don't rule out paying for more competitive search terms - they are competitive for a reason - 'spring digital' comes to mind here. |

Another tip: You probably have loads of keywords in your website (meta). But adding a box to the top which is invisible (or 1px font-size, same color as backgroundcolor) with all those keywords makes you get a lot more visitors, because search engines read the first few words in your website, so these are very important. It works to me *This is just for getting more visitors tho, not for making money |

if you really want to test it - you can start a campaign with 2-3 dollars/day budget and see what's going on. Use composed keywords (using KW suggestion tool is really helpful). Results depend a lot of site's profile. Also, remember to target (ideally) specific pages on your site, directly related to you ad content.' It can be a good idea to create landing pages. Try to imagine, once you create the ad, what the user expect to find when clickig on that specific ad. |

I tried to test, did an advertise company for a hosting company. I know about keywords and picked up good long terms. but something was wrong. After spending a bunch of money got zero back But I think the problem was due to the provided service. Hosting marketing is tooo overloaded atm Need to do some tests more |

I had a $50 free adwords voucher with my hosting. Set it up for web design brisbane for a month and didn't get one business enquiry. Recently redesigned our site based around SEO techniques and now getting one or two new business leads a week. |

i run a CPC for my company, and i couldn't agree more if you are in a niche market your laughing, however if you are in the general mix then be prepared to spend a few quid..... The campaigns i run are mainstream so our business spends about £30k a month..... However Google's a fantastic tool and with the analytics plug in you can become really sharp in terms of what works for you and what does not..... |

our clients find it useful for the first few months after their site has been launched.. once the site starts to perform in the search engines then they generally stop all pay per click advertising |

I have seen clients spending £80 a day on the cpc budget. I find it only really works for those with high profit margins. As only 1 in a 100 click through's actually buys. I recommend using it as only part of your advertising budget. Concentrate on magazine, newspaper and other forms of selling. |
