Canvas

I think I've stretched CSS pretty far, so time to move onto other projects. I've been working with canvas for a couple of hours now, it's pretty fun, working on some basic 2d games.

Anyone else made anything in it?

Canvas Jetpack (Press W or Up)

The stars aren't very well made though =P The collision detection at higher speeds gets a bit odd. And in general it's not very well written.

Fine with it for a first attempt though, much easier than I'd expected.

Good work Ian, I made L7, your little game is actually a lot more fun than much of Skyrim.

Made it a bit scarier.

Anyway, will make something proper with sprites n' all next time.

Didn't have more than an hour to mess about with this today, so just changed how the stars looked a bit and added a time slow mechanic if you hold space.

Canvas Jetpack

Want to have a finished, sprite filled game this weekend though.

Make sure you've refreshed the page.

At the moment there are infinite levels. The highest I've got is 18 although it's mostly luck past 15.

Edit: 22, back to work now.

Good work, the slow mo juice is a nice touch. Are you going to try and add animated sprite sheets to it or just static stuff?

Well as this one is just to learn, I guess I'll try animated sprites, even it's it's just 3-4 states.

I think you can do stuff in flash and import the swf's too. Looks pretty good.

Sure I'll check it out. Although for this I'll probably just have a couple of images for the ship/guy/whateverItIS.

I do hate putting together sprites though.

I don't mind helping out if you want any help putting together a graphic for the player. Just send me the sizes.

In the future I'll definitely reach out for some graphics/audio, but for this little test I don't think it would be worth the time for others.

Cheers though.
