MSDN function, userdefined width

Hi!
I was browsing the msdn the other day and found a very nifty function that I'd like to apply to my new code-portfolio.

Go to MSDN and have a look.
As you can see the site lets you expand the navigation box to the left. Does anybody know how to create something like this, I've seen similar with frames but thats history - the MSDN does not use frames so its not impossible. It's also important that the code works with all major browsers. My gues would be a jQuery or JS code but I actually have no idea of how to create something like this.

Tutorial links or code samples is what I'm looking for. I've searched google but this is a hard topic to find.
Best

Edit: Somehow the forum doesn't want me to post URL's untill my 15th post...

Although I can't see the link, it sounds like a fairly regular expanding div - any of the major javascript frameworks will support it.

Yeah i guess, but including a js framework just for a drag&drop element feels abit extreme.
