i'm really a noob in web programing so deal with me with a LOT of emphaty here k.

here goes.

i wanted to know any code that can make the IE full screen to the MAX. i mean no toolbars, no buttons. just the browsers content displayed FULL on the monitors screen.



i've had the 'pleasure' of experiencing this from a virus/malware/whtever-it-was on my previous Windows98. the so called virus launched a full screen browser stating "this computer need to be updated with..(sumthing i cant remember)".
i couldnt remove the virus so i'd change that one-liner web page into my own interface, just to get by before i format my HD.
the implication was it was pretty neat to have my desktop appear as i wish and any grubby hands of my dorm mates cudnt do a thing to my laptop since that web page covers everything including the Window Start button. and no right clicking wud bring it up.


Now, after that useless history lesson, the thing is i need to know the code that could make the browser content to be displayed FULLY.
or at least tell me the keyword for that phenomena so that i can continue my search for that code.

i've tried searching the forums for "full", "full screen", "cover desktop" but the result is just to many and diverse.

Although I can't think of many legitimate reasons for wanting to do this, the keyword you are looking for is: Chromeless.

Google for it and there are plenty of links. AFAIK this is IE proprietary code and therefor will only function as intended with IE.

And it's a terrible idea to alter someone's browser interface because it's obnoxious to your users and completely contrary to the spirit of the web.

If its a voluntary choice by the user, then I don't see any problem with it - it could be appealing for some situations. But if it were thrust upon me as a user, that would be the last time I visited that site.

to Hunch, pgo, haku, herkalees, roto; i'm sorry dudes. it not my intention to leave this thread hanging. like i said in my first post, i got "Chromeless" symptom thru a malware/virus. my PC was done for before i could save all of my contacts/bookmarks.

my intention with this specific behavior is that i wanted to use it on my terminal at the office. my workmates tend to change my setting and content without consent. i'm trying to limit their access. its my work on the line here.

but no i'm not trying to change somebody elses interface. that wud be sooo wrong. somebody (my-office-mates/malware/virus) changed mine and positive thinking have made me realize "wow! this is soo cool!". hehehee


so i'm trying to emulate / relive that experience.
