I am developing a new PHP/MySQL based forum. I am hoping to make it extremely easy to customize, accessable for people with disabilities and expandable so that it can run not only forums, but whole sites. I am hoping to release a commercial and freeware version. Do you believe there is enough need for this? I am not relying on it to provide a stable income and I am mainly creating it to see if I can, but I just wanted your opinions on this. |

Yep I reckon there's a market for an accessibly designed forum. Alot of work though. And whether people would pay for it is another matter. That's fuckin' ingenious, if I understand it correctly. It's a Swiss fuckin' watch.

I was thinking this the other day. If you could make a forum with similar functionality to vbulletin/phpbb/invisionboard that was accesible - used css for layout and no tables etc then you would be a god and I would buy a copy from you. Otherwise I dont see any need for more forum software as its been done to a high standard by those mentioned. This has been created to web standards - http://www.designers-network.com but lacks the functionality of normal forum software. Good luck |

My current version of the site (which I'll post when I get a bug free copy, only 1 bug left @dorian: Could you design my logo? I have a couple of ideas for one but I've still got to settle on a name for the board (the original name I had to scrap for an annoying reason). Thanks for your interest, Tom. |

I think you mean a free commercial board. I am also going to need beta testers and they will each get a free commercial board. But that's for later. A logo competition is a good idea though. When I get the main design fully complete and get a decent name (maybe another comp :P) I'll put one up |

You should take a look to see how it's shaping up. I think it's looking pretty nice Don't expect the look to stay though :P It's changed so many times in the past month. |

Oh. I just took a look at http://www.designers-network.com and it does lack a lot of functionality. Also, it doesn't use a strict DTD. Or even a transitional one??? It uses loose. |

Oh. I know what the problem is. It's because I haven't worked out how to get the bottom borders to all move at the same time. I set it at 50px temporarily but I need to get this sorted. I'm thinking about creating a <div> around each row and setting it's height to auto. Each cell will then have 100% height. I hope that works. |
