picture gallery

hi there.

I have designed a website which is an online art gallery. i want the viewers to be able to select a
painting and order. i have arranged for the transactions to be done by protx.co.uk so they have taken some stress off me.
Now all i want to do is build a very basic database using asp and SQL (or MS Access) where the paintings will be stored and displayed on the
site. How hard is this to do? Are there any tips or tutorials that would be able to help me do this?

Thanks in advance

If you are just starting up and want to start taking money this year I would suggest using a ready made off the shelf shopping cart.

These generally have various options for collecting payments (payment gateways) you just turn on the one you need, Protx.

I can suggest Cubecart is a good one but is PHP solution, you suggest you want to go down the Microsoft route?

I don't do ASP I do PHP so I cannot help further but I am sure someone wil be along who can.

Generally though I would suggest looking up ASP tutorials via Google.

There is no simple answer to your question. Spend a couple of months studying ASP and database integration?

Just pay some guy to do it as to write a script is a few hours to a day really but don't expect the moon on a stick just get the php scripting then pay more if you want a full site or styling doing for it. Other than that try and learn. For someone to spend an hour or more writing the code here for you isn't going to happen.

Also integrating with a payment gateway should be done by someone who knows what they are doing.

robert475, I have to agree with R1gM. You are taking on a lot. There is a great deal to consider. More than a simple tutorial will supply you with. You could also potentially run into trouble when it comes to dealing with people's sensitive information.

If you want to get up to speed. I suggest you start with a more simple project, perhaps how sessions are used.

Sorry to be so obtuse here, but, if you need an analogy...... its like asking a mechanic how you take apart an engine.
