Um, and your basis for this is what? I'm very familiar with people who were in the former Macromedia and this was never the case. And what exactly is 'on the ball with it'? Eh? Adobe has been doing major press/tours/etc to promote CF8, so perhaps you could back this up a bit?

- VB.NET
- C++ CLI
- Visual Studio
- MS SQL
- Office
- every other single fucking microsoft product currently supported since 2002.

I suppose I can concede this point - but any commercial company can dump a product. Again, show me the proof that you have that Macromedia/Adobe is planning or was planning on dumping CF>

I haven't heard anything about CF for years until the other day, hardly got an interested userbase has it.

Um, hasn't Macromedia/Adobe been work on CF for just as long? CF had it's 10th birthday a while back.

"You know that for sure..." Um, again, you can find cheap CF hosting. You can find expensive hosting. The exact same applies to .Net, PHP, etc. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. If you want to host your business on a 5 dollar a month host, be my guest, but don't be surprised if their uptime is not stellar.

And you can find good pricing for CF hosting as well. Do you think Adobe doesn't make these kind of deals as well?

Do you work for Macrodobia?

Never thought I'd see someone who was so passionate about ColdFusion. The web's bastard stepchild.

Honestly, and this isn't me saying it, most professional programmers I know think CF is a joke - a pseudo programming language that doesn't even look like a programming language.

While you probably can find affordable CF hosting, proprietary solutions won't be able to beat open source alternatives anytime soon. So any server based on FOSS is going to be cheaper by default.

I would venture to say that if someone is looking to be marketable, they move into ASP/.NET, Ruby/RoR, PHP, or JSP. Any of our more programming-oriented friends want to back me up on that?

I mean, for every CF job I see advertised, I probably see 100 for the big languages.

Meh, the guys name is "cfjedimaster" - no matter how many times you point out CFs flaws, or lack of developer support (for a damn good reason) he'll still cry about it being the best think since Beer... kinda like trying to tell an ostrich why flying is better for birds
