Ruby on Rails on OSX

Just thought i'd post these for reference:

Great walk-through on everything you need to build an ROR environment from source.

Walk through on building everything you need for Rmagick

Took about an hour for me to be up and running from a base OSX install (after downloading the gig or so xcode stuff from the apple site). Top stuff.

Not the quickest way of getting up and running on OSX mind you, but by far the best, most reliable way.

NevF: your first two port of calls should be the books Programming Ruby and Agile Development with RubyOnRails. The first will help you learn Ruby, which you really ought to do before learning Rails, the second will get you started with Rails.

After that, check out the rubyonrails.com wiki.

I still say you are better off compiling things yourselves - if you're a developer, why should you be afraid of doing a bit of compiling/command line work???

...cause I can easily f*ck that up. Locomotive is great -- especially the bundled RMagick version.

Christ...its not hard. I repeat, how can you expect to be a good developer if you can't grasp something as basic as unix command line skills and compiling.
