CMS - Images
Hi, just a bit of advice really. I am attempting a bespoke CMS system, and I am looking at a news section and its imagery. I would like to be able to create a news article page, but I want to be able to drop imagery into it, but I would like it to be at random points. How would I do that? Failing that I could also leave the image in the same place in the template but alternate it between float left and float right, that way I can have variety. Again any advice on how I would do that? Many thanks in advance. |

You could look at using an embedded WYSIWYG editor like www.xstandard.com or http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&ct=...HHNoKEReyw4YwO Luke Redpath .::. Software Engineer .::. Reevoo - Real Reviews From Real Customers

Well, you could try and spend ages writing your own page editor, but why reinvent the wheel? Luke Redpath .::. Software Engineer .::. Reevoo - Real Reviews From Real Customers

Using an embedded wysiwyg editor shouldn't preclude the ability to create a branded product. TinyMCE is free, XStandard isn't (though it is better IMO), but you can customise both and it is essentially nothing more than a souped-up text area - its not the whole app. Luke Redpath .::. The embedded editor is only a small part of what you're doing. The education thing is great however to build a content management system on your own, including some kind of wysiwyg editor is a pretty serious undertaking and unless you've got plenty of time to dedicate to the project, I wouldn't expect anything useable in the near future. As Luke says, it's not the whole app and you can concentrate on the actual business of the content manager rather than how the data is put into the system. |
