i've just read "Creativity for Graphic Designers" by Mark Oldach, which I thought was quite good. It's going back 10 years but the content is still sound. It will challenge you to think about the ways you work, but acknowledges that different approaches work for different people.

(also: don't judge the book by it's cover! It's layout is also a bit 'A-level textbook' style.)
