Metallic Inks?
I recently purchased a CD where the layout had metallic silver ink incorperated into the design. I also have seen a layout that incorperates matte images with high gloss images. My question is, what steps would I take to prep my document for print if I were to use special metallic colors or glossy images along with matte images? I am assuming that this mainly involves open communications with your printer. Although since I am cloudy on this issue I wanted to post and see if anyone could give me advice on this printing process. thanks much, w.city |

Chances are, the metallic magazine you are referring to was creating using Metal FX http://www.metal-fx.com/ |

Metallic inks work the same as when you would use a Pantone Spot colour. The file should be supplied with the normal CMYK seperations plus a spot colour for the metallic colour eg. 877CVU (Silver). The Gloss parts would simply be a spot varnish as said above. |
