HELP! Foreign Language Fonts into Indesign

Hi Folks

We have been asked to design a series of posters/leaflets - it's a council project and the area has a high % of South and Eastern European speaking residents.

So we have to create 5 versions in Polish, Serbian, Croat, Portugese (and English). Anyone know the best way to go about this?

We have been supplied the text - it displays without an issue in excel (i'm guessing MS embeds the encoded fonts?) - but copy and paste it into indesign and it cannot understand the text - t'adds box marks for characters it doesn't understand.

Copy it into Illi and PS and there is no problem either - so I'm guessing I need to enable language settings somewhere for InD - have tried the language tab on the type tool - no effect.

you need the appropriate typeface versions... "font name,CE"(central europe) for central europe, etc... and also you may need to change the encoding in excel/word as well!!! If you don't change the encoding all the Diacritic's will drop out.. although you will be able to retype them if you have the correct font version. But that takes ages...

it is easy if you have the fonts!!... what typeface's are you using?

the best way to change the encoding in word/excel is open you doc in Word 5.1 and convert to the CE version then copy as paste into new word/excel and save.. then you can import/copy and paste from that doc and it will retain the diacritical info!!
