I have used Central Colour (Notts), DIgital Plus (Leeds) and Aubergine Print. Never had any bother with either and they all seem pretty good and helpful.

I have done well by HP's Photosmart Printers. Epson Stylus printers are supposed to be pretty nice as well. I use HP's in my office. You can check out CNET.com's reviews for Editor's Picks and User Ratings.

The OP is looking for print companies.
How many times do you want to post links to your site?

Look at Yellow Pages! You want to avoid places like prontoprint or ones that print on photocopying like machines... the quality isn't great. Go see afew in your local area and look at the printers they use. The good ones use big designjet printers that print up to A0.
