I went through the entire site the other day. Some great shots indeed. Anyone else noticed that every "photographer" and their dog spends their time taking pictures of their friends looking forlorn, the elderly, or homeless people. I think 90% of the time it's pretentious selfishness. I don't quite think that in this case, but I'm still skeptical. It's hard to work on a project like this and not look like you're pandering. |

That's a common criticism of photography in general - it's very easy to take moody shots and as such they can seem overdone, but I think in projects like the one here, where the photographer has actually taken the time to ask the subject for a bit of background (assuming they didn't just make the captions up), it distinguishes them from the rest.
