First digi camera

No fancy stuff, just a Sony DSC P150, I know
it is not a pro's tool, but I figured it would
suit my beginner needs.
(Got it at a reasonable price, too)

And my first macro ever

Nice. Better than my camera (Nikon Coolpix 4100...I think...)!

I'd say the person behind the lens has some importance, too.
There is this quote that I found on a Romanian site that reads
like this:

"An experienced photographer would tell you that you
can shoot amazing photos even with the cheapest equipment,
however you don't see any of the pros using such equipment"

Anyway, for me it was the price I got it at that lured me. (approx
250 euros, when here, in the shop it costs some 550 euros)
Hopefully, this is just a beginning and when I know more,
I'll invest in better cameras.

A couple more shots from this weekend in the countryside

Thanks, Cam. Yeah, that's kind of what I intend to do,
( I have already configured the subdomain on my site )
I still have to finish my site though, which is in the
same state as yours

Time to weep?

After I just bought this camera,
the Romanian government decided
to withdraw some taxes that were
imposed to digital cameras, the
prices dropping quite a bit.

Here's the dilemma, right now
a Canon A95 is at about the same
price I paid for my p150 (which
in shops is still out of reach for me)...

Should I weep, or not. I mean, is
the Canon that much better?

I could try and sell the sony and
go for the canon, if I was sure
it was worth it, since anyway
I'll probably need a g6 when I
turn out to be a great photographer

No compact is ever going to compare to an entry/mid level dSLR. I upgraded to a Nikon D70s recently (from a Fuji s5000) and the control you have over shots is phenomenal. Their entry level dSLR, the D50 can be had for around £500 now which is amazing value for money.

I also use the Nikon D70 at work - very nice piece of kit - As Cam says No.of MP is secondary to lens quality. + Does your new camera let you have manual control over shutterspeed, focus and apperture - minimum requirements for anyone who wants to take real photos.

I just ordered a Holga offa E-bay - Inspired by chips' lomodome.com

Also have a 1970's Pentax Spotmatic, Sony Cybershot and some rusty old antique pinhole I bought at a boot fair. Have taken some right old shite with all of them and some reasonably good ones too.

..edited..

Wow. those veggies look so fresh.
nice job.
how does that cam do on macro on a whole?
mine (a minolta) is a bit gun shy and tends to get good pictures EVERY ONCE in a while.
