obsessive compulsive disorder, fears and phobias

hey,

i am currently about to start a university project (off my own back) based around the idea of obsessive compulsive disorder, fears and phobias. I have many ideas on what to photograph. Ideas which i feel will be visably attractive and storytelling. HOWEVER.. with this being a university project i need evidence of research and influence etc,etc... i am not a big fan of research and my knowledge of photographers is very poor.

Therefore, can anyone give me any names which may help me along the way?
Basicly i am lookin for photogrpahers who's images:-

i) tell a story
ii) may deal with this particular subject matter
or
iii) involve personal expression.

I am not affraid of shocking. imagine the work of 'adbusters' and 'vile bodies' combined and i am willing to go further so any names will do really.

cheers for the help.

littlefella.

I dont know if this is similer to what you think.
but Cindy Sherman is a photographer, I admire. she set herself into lots of differnt scenes and captured by herself. Some of her works are like from old movies, some of them are sent in disturbing, scary kind of situations. I'm sure you already know her as she is very famous, but
if you think in different way, I believe she achived same sort of theme as yours.
this is her website

yeah. very familiar with her work but not quite what i was going for. I think its gonna have to be a case of finding similarities/inspiration with certain images rather than particular photographers.
cheers tho.

I've got a degree in Creative Arts, Photography (quite long time ago tho lol)
I have struggled as well writing an essay.
but from my experience, you will be asked to name some photographers/artists
you have researched to back up your project.
What tutor wants to know is what you study through your works not just if your works look good. so it doesnt need to be just a photographer, you can say you have studied "light" 'Contract' "why use colour" etc.
I can say much cos I havent seen your works but from your discription, you can even study David Lynch films. Good luck!

Just go to a large bookshop and look at the Photography section. After a few hours you will either be enlightened or totally confused.
