What is this style of photo called?

Any 35mm camera can do that. The effect is called "depth of focus" and relies on the fact that camera lenses can be adjusted to focus on things at a certain distance. I reckon Wikipedia can explain better than I have patience for Depth of field - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, but there's a lot of maths there.
