iStock Photo

great cheap place to get stock photography, its about $13 for 10 credits, and 1 credit will generally buy a photo that is 400 x 250 pixels.

iStockphoto.com - no need for google images!

Yeah, go and get your print on!

...but I do use iStock from time to time. I'm not quite sure why CW though he had to drop this knowledge on us.

m8, the point (albeit jokingly) that most were trying to make is that you shouldn't be using Google image search as a resource for stock photos. Most are likely protected by copyrights in some way or another.

Thanks for the link, I've been always getting images from Google or other sites before, but now thinking to start purchasing some images that are professional to improve looks of my websites and to not worry about someone complaining that I took their image or something...

I usually modify them a lot to, so you wouldn't be able to prove anything.

I'll keep this quoted for any agencies that are thinking about hiring you.

In all seriousness, stealing and then consciously covering up your wrongdoing is fine if you are amoral and without an ethical foundation.

Come on, as if you never used Google or Yahoo or other similar service to search for images and use them as part of your design?

Also there a lot of those images are just available and are not copyrighted or restricted, and sometimes it is not reasonable to start searching if it is copyrighted or not, especially if you only need a part of the image...

I did not get someone elses drawing, image or other artwork, slightly modified it and called it my work, that would be wrong and even stupid, I do not do that and don't understand people who do. When I get an image I just get part of it, for example I am searching for a house image, car image or a background image, or whatever, then I just cut out the part that I need and modify it to fit what I am doing.
I think it is normal and almost everyone does this, most people don't have money to purchase every image they use, plus there are many free once or un-copyrighted once.

I recently decided to start purchasing some images, because those are much better and are better quality, plus I won't have to worry about someone in several months or years finding my site and saying I took their image, so I want to have ownership of that image. But I will still sometimes use Google or other such services to find other images for other things I need on my websites... Plus sometimes those sites that offer purchasing of images don't always have what is needed. Not everyone can go anywhere and photograph or draw or make professional effects either.

So point is I don't think that I am doing anything wrong by searching and using images, again I am not stealing or saying that someone elses work is mine.

In the post where I wrote "I usually modify them a lot to, so you wouldn't be able to prove anything.", I was mostly kidding.

Also I am not amoral, I logic and reason everything more then most people.

No, I never have. I've always secured legal rights to an image before using it.

"I don't think that I am doing anything wrong by searching and using images"

That doesn't mean that it's not illegal, of course!
