Idiots Guide to Abstract Photography...
Anybody in an abstract mood? Take a nice shiny (steel) pot > fill it up with water > stick it on the cooker > set your camera on 'macro' mode and zoom in (so your camera is not too close to the heat) and get ready > start snapping as soon as the water starts bobbling - before the whole thing's boiling... Try snapping the bottom of the pot for example... You can get some amazing abstract looking shots... Enjoy! My latest discovery - I get easily excited ...

Everybody at work thought i was mad the other week and I incased a miniature version of our compnay logo in ice then let it melt using time lapse on my dv camcorder and alot of hair dryer work near the end to speed thing up as I was getting bored. Took a few hours to defrost, but the logo looks cool emerging from the ice when sped up to about 20secs Jase

I like the last 2 very cool, I want to put together more video and random experiments on my site soon (well when i get time, a decorator nevers gets to paint his own house) I've loads of other bizzare video bits and pieces from my other half driving and me holding onto the camera looking at the road as she overtakes loads to grass blowing on a sand dune. If people want I could zip it up but it only goes down to about 6mb, I do have a 300k SWF version but its not very good quality and much faster. The total Ice video was about 90min and about 19gb when I pulled it from my camera! Windows really loved that.......i wish i had a mac Jase

Haven't seen the full size avi yet but the compressed fla looks very promissing. You said you ysed a hairdryer to melt the ice... I can recommend a blowtorch or HOT AIR GUN very efficient for ice... I also used it for drying thick (wet) layers of latex... does the job! ...

only a play around it hard to get the logo to stay in the same place without slipping eventhough its in the center of about 3cm of ice, i've a few version lying flat standing up all directions. Maybe I'lll come back to it one day. I'm gonna spend thursday this week videoing weird stuff I'll keep up posted if I get any interesting results Jase

nah... you see I studied art & design once... people do weird things... but if you must know - I was doing a cast of a manequin doll's face amazing stuff for doing perfect impressions of things... don't get too carried away - the stuff stinks like hell of ammonia... actually, people that do it for 'pleasure'... don't understand how they can stand it... dedication I guess... ...
