HDRs
I've been experimenting a lot with shooting HDRIs (high dynamic range images) for use in my 3D work lately. Here's the result of one of my most recent HDRs and then the HDR background plate I used for compositing into the 3D scene. Below the HDR background plate, you will see what a traditional photograph right out of the camera would look like. For those who don't know, a HDR image is generated by taking multiple exposures then combining them all together to essentially create one image that's perfectly exposed. As you can see in the example, both inside and outside of the garage is exposed for, which is impossible with traditional photography methods. They're used a lot in the 3D world for generating real-life lighting information and real-life reflections to help achieve hyper-realism.
