Rob Dougan - 'Furious Angels'
you can listen to all the tracks - and they load surprisingly quickly!! even on 56k.

Sounds like Chris Rea impersonating Tom Waits - not sure if that's bad or good.

Still not convinced with MP3 sound quality, ok for a quick listen but not like the real thing.

uh, maybe it doesnt work on macs then? but shouldn't it - it's flash...? can't you see a playlist with *clickable* song titles?

Yes, he has been compared to Chris Rea. And Tom Waits. Especially the track called 'Drinking Song' is very much Tom Waits. Probably some sort of tribute since bothe Waits and Dougan are into films.
I love the mixture of orchiestral arrangements and 'modern rythms'.

the choire you're hearing in the beginning is the first track - it's about a minute long. The next track should start playing after that...
but if you cant even see anything something is fucked...

Tom Waits is good, Chris Rea is not. Some mutant combination does NOT sound like a good idea

Believe me it's good. It's not a 'combination' but just his voice. The music is amazing and NOT AT ALL like Chris Rea!

Im listening to Furious Angels now, my initial comment is just that its too clean. He does sound a bit like Tom Waits, but the great thing about Tom Waits (imho) is that the music is really dirty sounding. This sounds like a dance track.

Sorry if this turns into a TomWaits thread (as if you lot care about tangents) but I have to say that 'swordfishtrombones' is one of the best albums ever! Comments please!

Prole: You got it just on one recommendation? I didn't know I had that influence on people
'Nothing at All' is probably my favourite too!
spooky lyrics...

had 'Small Change' once... that's the only Waits album I know. Miss listening to it.
Will have to check out the newer stuff too. Soon.
