It's good yeah. I don't get the fuss over Antichrist though...I think it's his weakest album, packed full of filler. Luke Redpath .::. Software Engineer .::. Reevoo - Real Reviews From Real Customers

Whoa. Antichrist was the culmination of everything Manson had to say. It's stacked with layers both musically and lyrically, it's amazing. After that album he really didn't have a whole lot to say anymore. So Mechanical Animals was his piss take on his superstar status and having fun with the whole media hype. It all went downhill after this. Holy Wood just plain sucked, Manson trying to be Limp Bizkit. Simple lowbrow music with simple lowbrow lyrics for a simple lowbrow crowd. Golden Age is him trying to recapture some of the Antichrist times, but without his main songwriter (Twiggy left) and without a great producer (where's Trent when ya need him) it comes off as a watered down weak attempt. There are one or two nice tracks, but the whole thing just proves Manson is passed his prime and should just call it a day. |

IMO, Holywood is his strongest album, and the comparison to Limp Bizkit is pointless. Manson has always been about simple lowbrow music with simple lowbrow lyrics for (the most part) a simple lowbrow crowd. To think otherwise would be to kid yourself. Luke Redpath .::. Okokok... i'm reviving an older thread. sue me. Portrait of an American Family: I thought this album was downright fun. the catchy guitarwork of daisy berkowitz was just great! however, he wasn't going to progress as a musician. his later projects like 3-ton gate showed that. Smells like Children: i met him on this tour. man, i wanted to smack him. lots of spit flew around at these shows. a lot of the soundclips were from a phil donahue taping about the dangers of moshing that MM were featured on. i wish i still had that video. Antichrist Superstar: antichrist superstar has the catchiest writing of all of the albums. its dark and grabbed the teens by the thousands with its shockwrock writing along with the antics of the accompanying tour. Mechanical Animals: the schlocky jab at superstar status that was mechanical animals was really fun. i thought the writing was really good and the production was fantastic. he obviously had a lot of bowie influence on what he was trying to do here. Holywood: i think jeordie white was slipping into the background a little on this album. the songwriting wasn't as strong and my first reviews were: "alright, he's already ripped off his influences and has no one left but himself to copy". but after a third listen, it really warmed up on me. not an album to rock out to, but i've done a lot of work with it playing in the background. golden age of the grotesque: i loved it at first. listened to it for about 3 days straight. after that, it lost its heart on me. it seemed very forced and had an ungenuine pop element i didn't hear on the previous albums. it seemed like it didn't have as much honest energy into it and he was reaching for lyrics to sell the album. wouldn't you get tired of being this dramatic too? Kill me with a keystroke, baby. Kill me with a click.
