Saul Williams

He released a new album produced by Trent Reznor. It's a free download at 192kbps or if you donate $5 you can get the lossless format at his website.

I really enjoy his cover of Sunday Bloody Sunday. Since I love Nine Inch Nails so much, the album getting the Reznor Touch was enough for me to donate the $5.

yeah. this was released a month ago or so. its decent. it feels too much like Year Zero part 2 though then a Saul Williams album.

trent just posted a blog on his site semi-criticizing the amount of money that was actually made from the album in the time its been out. it seemed as though he thought releasing it free or for $5 was going to be a get-rich-quick scheme or something. without any advertising other then word of mouth and notice pretty much only from the Saul Williams or NIN fans, i think they made a good amount.

Trent's never really been about the money. You remember this is the same guy who made his masters available to fans to be used for remixes for free.

I don't hear Year Zero Part 2 (that was Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D). I can see where you could get that, since Williams has made remixes for Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D (Survivalism_tardusted and Gunshots by Computer).

Add to that: we spent too much (correction, I spent too much) making the record utilizing an A-list team and studio, Musicane fees, an old publishing deal, sample clearance fees, paying to give the record away (bandwidth costs), and nobody's getting rich off this project.
he may not be "about the money" but.... he's kinda complaining "about the money."

and i don't mean a literal part 2. it just sounds just like Year Zero with different songs. if Year Zero was a double disc and Saul Williams' was #2, I wouldn't have noticed other then the lyrics.

Come to think of it, everything by NIN sounds like one huge album split up by individual discs.

I'm going to be seeing Saul in April when he comes to Chicago.

Reznor is at least trying to do something different. He's getting back to the melodic experimental fragile stuff with Ghost which I love.

Trent's graphic designer Rob Sheridan has the job that I would kill for. Photographing, filming, and designing sites for NIN. Damn he is lucky.

Don't worry Trent would've made up the money from Ghost's in the first week or so
