Pandora, clever radio
Pandora Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio, Find New Music some of you have probably seen this already - you type in the track name or artist that you like and it creates a personalised radio track listing of similar types of music which you might like - things you like you give the thumbs up, things you dont like, you give the thumbs down i found that within about 30 mins i didnt hear a song i didnt like and have discovered loads of new tracks and artists because of it wicked |

But if you're outside the US you are welcomed with this: Quote:
...though I see you're in London so I don't know how that works...There are alternatives for people outside the US... just can't remember them off the top of my head |

I LOVE Pandora. It is definitely my favourite web app of all time. I'm in Belfast but I registered over a year ago using a fake address in Beverly Hills. ZIP code 90210. I don't use Last.fm but I'm told it has a similar functionality and can be used in the UK. EDIT: Just checked out last.fm and it's nowhere near as good as Pandora. I typed in Alexisonfire and it gave me Drive by Funeral For A Friend which is about the only song on FFAF's first 3 albums that sounds nothing like Alexisonfire. Stupid. Pandora works on a much deeper level. Each song is broken down by the members of the Music Genome Project into it's constituent parts, vocal style, tonality, acoustic or electric instrumentation etc., and you are presented with tracks with similar qualities. Last.fm simply works by searching the libraries of other users and suggesting music that they like. In my case, in my iTunes at the moment I have The Killers and Amon Amarth. I don't know many people who like both, so this system is a little bit flawed. Last edited by Paddy : 18-12-2007 at 20:48. |
