And that's precisely why I don't like it. There is no point to get.

weldo that was brilliant !!! haha

about the noise. all music is just "noise", it's just how ours ears recognise notes thats makes one believe that non noisy noise is in fact non noise. For many noise holds the same plateau as non noisy noise, especially when there's a tribal beat behind it.

Agreed with most of the above,
Rap just as most music has evolved it's just a pity it turnned into complete shit, I love Rap (real rap) and have had my own rap group, been on tour, gigged, recorded, and basically got to see first hand how, a song about the negitive influence gangs have on our children is over looked for something more americanized and meaningless with a lot of bass(I'm not saying american rap is meaningless). it seems we now have a industy full of idiots who give emos a good reason to dam on Rap/RnB/Hip-hop. thanks T.pain and co.
R.I.P RAP.

Personally I feel the new wave of rappers and such should all be shot.
I know things change but its such a shame it had to turn into what it has.

I am an old school listener so maybe I am biased. There are a lot of good rap groups still around we just don't get to hear them because they don,t believe in bling.
Music should mean something and quite frankly this new crap does not.
Jurassic 5, 2 pac, Jungle Brothers, Krs One, Ol dirty Bastard and aressted development are groups I would pay to listen to.

It seems like rap, hip hop and R&B in general have been exploited to the point where the general public are now exhausted. They/we/I need something else.

This mightn't go down well in this obviously old-skool environment but I think Jay-Z is still releasing some great stuff. The American Gangster album has a few cracking tracks on it.

However, I generally prefer rapping when it's been mixed with music not necessarily associated with rap. Danger Mouse's Grey Album for example is excellent. And one of my favourite albums at the moment is Mike Shinoda's remix of Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory with Jay-Z's Black Album, titled Collision Course.

Ignore the video, just listen to the song.

I've gone from liking and listening to hip hop to realising I preferred the (real) music it samples. These days I find hip hop way too literal and verbose. Not enough to say and too many words to say it.

Thats a pretty good way of saying it mate. I feel like one of those old folk telling kids about the music in my day.

Older rap is ok, new stuff is mostly drivel.

Give me a good Pantera/Metallica/Dream Theater CD anyday over rap.

If you haven't, Lupe Fiasco's new album "The Cool" is far and away one of the best mainstream hip hop albums in years. The song below is probably one of the weakest songs on the album IMHO, but still decent, and quite good when compared to 50 cent & co.

[edit --> thanks]

I think Def Jam should be putting up some pretty huge albums over the coming years with Nas, Statik Selektor, Lupe, Kanye, Jay-Z, Greenlantern, Memphis, etc. all on their label.

Mostly though I've been going back to the old school Nas, Biggie, NWA, etc. of late.

Yeah... like I said, probably one of the worst tracks on the album. Not really sure why that was the first single, but... *shrug*
