importing cds...
Dont know if any one here buys cds from outside the EU, if you do it seems like things might be changing for the worse. Fucking rip-off Britain, moan bitch rant... "CD WOW! - An Important Announcement Dear Member, The UK Major record companies through their mouth piece the BPI* have unfortunately restricted the UK and Irish consumers right to enjoy the freedom of the World Wide Web. As from this weekend, any CD ordered for delivery to the UK and Ireland will incur a surcharge as we are only able to deliver CDs manufactured within the EU (more expensive). Delivery to the rest of the world will not be affected. You only have a few days left - so order now! Be quick to make the best of our current low low prices while you can still exercise your right to choose. We will of course still be supplying UK and Irish customers but as of Sunday 25th January 2004 a surcharge of £2.00 (3.00 Euros) per CD will apply. Please Note - our prices of DVDs and Games will remain unaffected Warmest Regards, CD WOW! " |

I appreciate that the EU ruling was real, but ws CDWows's fuss about 'BUY NOW!' just a marketing ploy? If not, I can't imagine them taking the additional charges out of their profit margin, so where did the charges go? |

They sourced CDs from within the EU - it was only CDs from outside the EU that the charges were added to. Good on 'em I say. Fucking BPI wankers, screw 'em etc BTW bill - did you use allofmp3.com in the end? |

Nah. I think I only mentioned allofmp3 as a suggestion of what's available Haven't gotten round to trying any of the legit mp3 download sites yet. I'm having a bit of a renaissance swing for actual CDs at the mo; probably a reaction to picking up a couple of nice, special (packaging) editions of my favourite albums on ebay where I can get my mits on some less obvious releases. |

I tried it the other day - credited the minimum $5 to my account but i'm having real trouble spending it and finding anything worth downloading which I havent already got. Theres a lot on there but it's all very obvious stuff. Shame really. |
