Top 500 Albums

These are what Rolling Stone Magazine consider the best 500 albums since the dawn of time.

Top 500

How many you got and what's been left out (iyo)?

there are sooooooo many that dont belong their imo

e.g. PJ Harvey

Was odd to see Marvin G in top 10 and then again on 550+

I also thought there was far too much indie(crap) in there.

I don't think they forgot SOAD. They just aren't 14.

I love the beatles but don't think their albums are the greatest. Maybe they just haven't stood the test of time, but all the albums have some weak tracks on them.

i think the top 500 had such a heavy bias towards 60's and 70's rock and rock in particular, i think only 4 jazz albums made the list

Jazz doesn't get the respect it deserves.

I have all of the 500 greatest singles excepting the 2-pac song, which I deleted when I discovered it's existence on in the torrent.. err.. in the something else.

I don't have interest in Jazz, but I wouldn't write it off. It has its major roots in music history. Plus, its the perfect thing to listen to at a fancy, laid back lounge.

On a second note, Guns N' Roses is my fav of all time. Blast my ears away when I weightlift each day. You can't be the intensity Axl brings to the table.

Pfff, it looks like a list my dad would make, pretty typical stuff if you ask me.

I'm guessing the RS editors were going for a "popular/memorable" list rather than anything with real stand out?

The singles list makes for better reading, just.

Shock horror- Rolling Stone magazine top 500 seems grounded in 70's rock. Odd that.
