Super High-Quality mp3 Ripping
Quote:
pgo...BIG thanks for this one, m8. I've had this on my to-do list for (obviously) quite some time. Just got 'round to setting it all up last night. The difference between the mp3s ripped via this new method and my old way (music match jukebox) is crystal clear -- especially when listening via headphones. Once I had it all set up, I test-ripped a CD with what I thought had very complex musical structure and compared the tracks. The difference in quality is definitely noticable...especially in certain comlplex portions of one key track. That convinced me that I need to start over from "A" again in my music library. It's OK, though, I had (thankfully) only gotten to "G" ripping via Music Match. It's going to take a bit longer ripping every CD in my library via this method, but it will be worth it in the end. I guess my resolution in '06 will be to get all 750 CDs done... fun: HGC v.4 | last.fm: DT | me | oi! f*ck u roto: ...via meebo!

Nice one, had missed his original post. Another alternative is ripping to a lossless codec, such as FLAC ( http://flac.sourceforge.net ) That said, until QT (which drives iTunes) supports FLAC, it's a bugger to playback. |
