Its for a set of turntables so i really want one with some power but havn't really got much money. Tried Richer sounds but there all still round the £70 mark. Short of waiting for one to come into cash generator i think i'm gonna have to hope Santa'a feeling generous.

You get what you pay for, anything below a hundred quid is going to be naff and only make you wish you had saved more money.... bide your time, and head over to Richer Sounds when you have £200 - that will get you a good enough starter amp and a small set of speakers.

get yourself an old Quad 303 power amp, they're bomb proof and pretty cheap as they're about 30 years old... but still far better than the cheapo amps you get in richer sounds

I'm using 2 P500's by Cambridge Audio - they don't make them anymore but again eBay is your friend. They got stonking reviews at the time for the price range... the fact is there was nothing else in that price range that offers that power.

Richersound bought the TDL name after TDL went under and they churned out nasty, cheap speakers under the name. If you can get hold of some original TDL transmission line speakers you'll be laughing - masses of low end but really well controlled. I have a pair of RTL 3s that are about 10 years old and they're still going strong. Picked them up for 60 quid (about 400 new)

Again, ebay is a good source.
