Which Application is best to create Special effects Videos?

Hello members, I am new and I want to learn something on video, how to add after effects in videos, is there any user friendly software available on net which I can chose and create my video with lots more special effects in it. I don’t want to go in big application details; I just need to add some custom effects to make my videos in Hollywood style.

Somebody suggested me to go for CS4 Adobe after effects, after looking to the size of that application I quit, its too huge to handle such big one and I don’t have time to study, I need readymade ones, like adding pictures, adding some customized after effects with text or in pictures, some sounds and that’s it..

Please don’t suggest me for Windows Movie maker or Animoto, I need something good ones. I need your valuable suggestion.

After Effects is not that hard, plenty of documentation + countless tutorials .. I don't see the problem.

that's not possible. Unless you want some really basic home video effects, in which case you should look at iMovie if you are on mac. Don't know if theres a windows equivalent, theres windows movie maker but that looks like absolute crap to me. Maybe one of them unlead studio things you used to get with firewire cards ?

in the long run you are better off learning after effects or apple motion. Once you understand the workflow its not really that hard.

I'm another vote for After Effects.
If you've had any experience with Adobe products, or anything based on a timeline, it's really not that hard to get started.

Google videocopilot for some easy tutorials on some awesome effects. If you manage a couple of those you'll pick up the After Effects basics in no time...

Yes, After Effects is not that difficult to learn to use well. Also, depending on the number of plugins you have installed, you can become very dangerous in a real short time! Good luck.

honestly, there are only a handful of plugins worth even having IMO - most of them are from red giant.
