DVD to iPod / iPhone & Mobile Devices

DVD to iPod / iPhone & Mobile Devices

What you need:

DVD Shrink 3.2x
Download DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 - DVD Shrink - A FREE software to backup DVD disks ! - Softpedia

VOB file converter for iPod & other devices
Allok 3GP PSP MP4 iPod Video Converter - Convert video to AVI/MPEG/ASF/WMV/3GP/MP4 formats

Rip your DVD takes about 10-30mins depending on speed of computer

import your VOB files into Allok 3GP PSP MP4 iPod Video Converter and export for iPod or your chosen device.

Reason I am posting this is I have been looking for a solution to copy DVD's I have bought to my iPod and have not found an easy way of doing this until now. I also have a new phone which can play DivX movies so I started my research again.

er, iTunes does all of this.

Unless you are talking about pirating DVD's onto your mobile video device, which is illegal

iTunes in UK does not allow you to import DVD on to your iPod or iPhone, I have not found this feature on windows version of iTunes.

QuickTime / iTunes on vista is still very unstable (atleast on the 3 vista machines I have used it on).

Also I am not pirating DVD since I have already purchased it. I am merely converting it to play on my iPod / Mobile phone.

Pirating = distribution, selling

dvd backups are fine, legally. I understand the software for such purposes is a bit thin on the ground. I'm just yanking your chain. ipod torrents are probably the simplest way

Bad software choices IMO, on a Mac I just use Handbrake for DVDs and VisualHub for everything else (incompatible vid formats, etc).

One click solutions once you've made a preset (or picked one) are best.

When I was looking at Mac solution it would cost me around £1800 when I can PC with more power for less than £1000. If I could afford the luxury of a Mac I would get one.

No worries, Handbrake works on PCs, and will take your DVD to an iPod/iPhone/whatever friendly file with no fuss. (It's quicker than competitors on the Mac, guessing it'd be good on PC too?)

HandBrake

I tried handbrake and it finds my dvd files and chapters etc... when I choose iPod preset and add it to the queue and press start it just comes up with complete right away!

cant get it to encode.
