Can you help me understand this effect.

Hello,

I want to first say hey! and I am glad I finally joined this forum. I have monitored it for a while now and read all your guys/gals wonderful advice on many topics. Thanks!

So on to my question...

I would like to see if anyone here can offer help in recreating the effect used on this image. I am looking for the blur effect advice. It has a very unique haze to it.

It is from http://www.billybussey.com/ - I can't get a response from him.

Thanks so very much in advance if you can help.

PS... I am a Photoshop user.

Its just a photo with Gaussian Blur, the only reason it sharp is that it has a top layer with some extra mark making. Gives the impression of a crisp focus with short depth of field.

Wow, that was quick! Thank man! Sorry I am somewhat new to design. Any advice on getting random marks like the one you gave in your example?

Ah, www.billybussey.com

I was impressed until I realized it's nothing but eye candy, loading times, and transitions and no freakin content at all.

The best bit about the site are the simple 3D buttons at the start. I love those. Also love his white machine-like stuff, but content aside the white machine thingy doesn't fit at all with the big blue border and blurred guy. Its like hes tried to cram too many design ideas into 1 site.

Still better than mine so I shouldn't really comment.
