Getting quite a good grasp of what after effects can do, but there was been one thing playing on my mind for a while that you always see.

Its the glowing beam thing that whizzes around with all kinds of parks coming off.

Surely its not just not done by animating a singular photoshop file.

3d stroke is really good. try that one out for sure. Shine and Starglow.. or a combo of all these can be really effective>> http://www.trapcode.com/gallery.html

this guy uses trapcode plugins a lot for his tutorials
