thirdsky ideas
Hello! I don't want anybody to do a logo for me, but I just need advice and ideas. It's for my creative identity, named ThirdSky. It's nice as a text-based logo, but I also want a kind of pictogram/icon and on that part, and I don't know... Sometimes I'm in a creative mood so I say let's work on my own identity, but then that creativity runs away... lol I mainly use blue, black (at various opacities) and white as colors in my upcoming website and business cards. Note that I don't have anything to do with Third Sky Media or Third Sky ITL. I'm ThirdSky Creative Studios. Web and print design, Web & Windows programming and aviation-related work (as paint-schemes for exemple). Mainly. Thanks guys, gals, your suggestions and ideas are appreciated! Draw a line. Then off that make some curves and add a circle. Then some more lines, but thicker this time. A squarish shape near that, then some more lines, both straight and curved underneath. That should do it. Best of luck. |

You need to sit down with a pencil and a bit of paper and sketch out some ideas. Work some shapes you like, try these shapes against your typed logo etc. etc. Surely if you're a creative studio you must have some creativity in your brain - use it! You will get better responses on here if you have something to show people - who can then look at it and give you advice on how to better your work. Coming on and asking for ideas is, in my eyes, almost as good as asking for somebody to design you a logo. |

Yep, my problem is that it's easier to get others satisfied than get myselft satifsifed. It's the same thing when I'm working on my portfolio... I did like what, eleven, twelve, thirteen concepts? A lot. While for clients I do one, two, and they're happy XD (I'm sure I'm not alone in that situation!) abbasinho >> Sure, as soon as I've got something I'll post it here to get some advice and comments. Anyway, thanks for your tips and ideas, I'll try to get back with something for at least something to start on |

It doesn't means a lot. I just wanted something which sounded cool and which has something to do with aviation as it's something I especially like and want to work with. It's also what got me into webdesign and my main passion. BTW, I originally wanted to use the name ThirdSky Media but that already existed. I don't want "design" because I do more than just design. So I choose "creative studios", but in fact it's more freelance work. But that'll be said on the website's about page. Anyway, after trying around I found something I liked. It's basically a "3S" in a rounded square. The 3S is transparent and merges with the surrounding picture/color as it's direclty on the sides of the square. It's simple, as I wanted it. I'm now trying to find a nice font, but maybe I'll just draw myself the 3S. And I hope nothing exists that looks like that too much... Edit: I kind of... changed my mind. Again^^ I wasn't satisfied with what I explaned before. Finally, here's what I got: it really fits my portfolio design, but it means nothing and it's more a nice shape that a real logo, but it's still better than just the text. I'm not reakky satisfied, but it's still better than what I had before... (nothing lol). Last edited by FoxLeader : 10-05-2008 at 17:13. |

Am I the only one who initially read it as 'thirdsky' as in rhyming with 'thirsty'? Like a stereotype's Russian word for 'third'. I prefer the first logo (of the last 2), as it has some separation of the words. I also generally like the look of those logos. |

The marque seems fairly abstract/meaningless, will degrade at small sizes and will be difficult to apply/adapt (as it's v. complex). It's aesthetically pleasing but perhaps forgettable, some sort of smile in the mind idea or objectively-led concept would allow more distinction from competitors in my opinion. |
