Hello. I am new here. I would appreciate some feedback on a logo I am creating for a school project.
The logo is for a company called VIP Communications. They are a long-distance phone service provider.
Here is what I have so far. Any help/feedback/criticism would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is there any meaning behind the logo? All I see are some strategically placed circles...

Well. Yes.
Bascially we are doing a logo redesign.
I have attached the original logo we are redesigning.
We have to keep some of the same elements.
I chose to keep the same color scheme.
I also chose to kind of keep the crescent swoosh shape, but subtly. That is why the circles are placed like that. To create a swoosh, or signal shape. It is a communications company. They are global and offer their services worldwide. This is why I chose 7 of the black circles, to symbolize each continent.

I would like the logo to convey the idea of connection since that is a key concept of the company. But I am at a loss on how to do that.

the logo will look much better if you loose the definition. Logos typically look better 2-D. you also need the text/tagline.
