Logo for a band?
Hi all, Does anyone have any advice on creating a logo for a band? I'm used to designing for companies, products, etc, but never a band before. It's my own band, so there's a lot of pressure. I'm just not really sure if there's any set rules to be adhered to. Any help is most appreciated. Cheers! |

^ edit: see - we are on the same page here! What kind of music? What's your history? Where are you from? Are you funky? Are you cool? is your band a fat Operetta from Basingstoke? Give us your background and a link to your tunes and maybe we could give you some ideas. When I think of band logos the first ones that spring to mind are the Beatles, Stones, Led Zep and Chemical Brothers. All different. All cool... |

The band's called 'The Shaker Heights'. Sounds terrible at first, but it gets better. I didn't choose it anyway Apparently you can only link to other URLs after you've made 15 posts, so not sure how to link to our site really. If you go to the Jericho Tavern's website (venue in Oxford), we're the band playing on the 2nd of May. There's links to our website (horrible, I'm redesigning that too) and our myspace page on the gig info. |

Designing for a band is just like designing for anything else when you get down to it (i.e. basic good design principles). You have to research the genre, other bands that sound similar, and the band's personal style. I would highly suggest having them tell you want other band's logos they like because when it comes to approval, they need to like it. Make sure it's in a format that is reproducable at large sizes. |
