If the client is happy and I am happy to put my name to it then it's job done.
It's good to exercise the creative muscle every now and again, especially following weeks of following grim looking corp id work.

That would be fair IF they don't get the copyright as well...which would mean they can't really use it on anything the designer doesn't design. Otherwise an hour would be good.
