Help ensuring logo concept originality

I'm working on a new ident for a full company re-brand. The logo needs to be as generic and non industry specific as possible, but in doing so the whole thing looks far too familiar.

My question is, does anyone here know of a company that can check brand originality as I don't want a Quark/Scottish Arts Councils scenario. Not good publicity!

Or, as you lot are usually on the ball with this sort of thing, if you can think of any other brands that look similar to the ones below that would warrant reasonable cause for not presenting?

Comments welcome as always,

Muchos grassyarse

hate the first. Liking the rest, but the last is very familiar.

I think the 'ir' mark probably inches it for me.

That one is very nice. Top one looks like a badly drawn, upside down and reversed nike symbol:

Top one reminds me of train companies? That magnetic levitating train company logo thing, can't find it right now though.

Second one looks pretty generic, not a fan.

Third and Fourth are worth persuing IMO, the fourth one reminded me of "Core", but it's not similar after googling...

Cheers fellas.

Option 4 is a geometric shape that has been rotated to form a circle. Very generic as per brief. Here's a few more that I might substitute 1 and 2 for...

Thanks for that, Fred.

I'm putting 5 forward (not too many imo). Which of the five I don't know.
Thanks for the link. Some nice examples. I just can't find anything interesting I can pull from the type. Company sells content from white papers.

Please don't bring back the swoosh!

Liking the ir (number three) - stay with that mark and work it differently imo.

The second one reminds me of the Wonderbread logo.

I like number three. To me, the combination of the two letterforms creates an image of a person holding a document and reading it. Not sure if that ties into what the company offers, but if it does, it's an added bonus.
