My Logo Idea

Here is my idea for a logo for a mach-company. I used Photoshop CS3, but I'm new to logo design, so if anyone has any ideas or preferences on what programs to use, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks

hello and welcome willpower.

this is a taste issue but to me your logo no concept and all photoshop filters

other than that.

the font is difficult for me to read - i just read it as macromedia and had to re-scan it a few times to get the name.

the green and the blue in the X shape will die horribly in print.

Sorry, it's not brilliant. I agree with Do Gooder on all his points.

Back to the drawing board?

workflow:
brief, idea, pencil + paper = scribbles. Take scribbles into illustrator(software). Produce masterpiece.

Resources:
identityworks.com
logopond.com (use with caution, not all is good work)

logos are almost all idea. you need software to make them usable, but the idea should probably be on paper first.

To me, that looks like two different logos next to eachother.

I would ditch the 3D look and use a more simple font so its readable
and maybe keep it to two colors and knock the word studio over to the right.

i also agree with the above comments...always sketch out on paper and pencil first then use illustrator to create it as a vector so you can make it any size you want without quality loss

when designing a mark you should work in B&W, STOP using shadows and gradients in logos. If it looks good in B&W then you can start adding effects. you should work in vector programs like Illustrator or Corel Draw
