Your reaction on the name "S o t u s p o d i"
Hi Frenz, What is your intuitive reaction when you hear the word "S o t u s p o d i". Actually, I recently rechristened my firm as "S o t u s p o d i". The word is taken from one of the oldest language(defunct now). I will spell you the meaning of the word after hearing reactions from your end. Me giving u the meaning now might influence ur judgment. That's why. I will also tell later u what I am doing with this brand. I know, I know we have very very slippery tongues out here. Please spare me and give ur right reaction.. plz. Last edited by Kukur.puwali : 19-11-2007 at 20:32. |

In Finnish, the word "sottapytty" is similar. It means a messy child. My free fonts www.utfi.net

Thank you friends. My conclusion after ur varied comments is that, my choice of the name isn't going to make any impact. I wonder how people land into nice names. Now to the revelation. S o t u s p o d i is a Sanskrit word. This is a very ancient and 'sacred' language from India. Epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana were written in this lang and almost all vedic mantras/spells are in this language. It is now defunct now. Only literary 'geeks' learn this lang. S o t u s p o d i means "Four legged". Though I am into tech I love and care for sick animals and thus named my firm that way. Now I am into making a logo for it. I am planning to include a cute dog wearing pants hand in hand with a small boy in the logo. I might beg u all for a logo if I can not create it myself. Thanks again frenz. As the others have commented, sounds like a disastrous idea. I'm all in favour of injecting some of your own personality into your personal branding, but it still has to convey certain information about what you do, the professionalism with which you do it and that you're competent. What on earth does a dog in pants convey to your potential clients? |

Wow! My dubious choice of firm name generated quite a lot of what.. I am not sure. Anyway I am getting the 'due' attention. Shall we end the thread here? I will get back to u all with the logo, once completed. Perhaps someday I will feel proud to spam u all with my achievements(tech and animal care going tandem), and u won't distaste at those spams either. I hope. I have even registered "S o t u s p o d i. c o m' Oh! I have something funny associated with my user name too. |

Interesting, so you posted for feedback and thoughts from professionals in the same field, the feedback is overwhelmingly that you should rethink it, and you do it anyway? Why bother asking at all is all I can wonder. |

Other people seem to be critical, but in my opinion, it depends on what sort of firm it is. It is creative, it should be able to use such a 'different' name to a large effect, and inject some brand identity. It just depends on how you use it. Oh and is it sotus-podi or sotu-spodi (pronunciation wise)? |
