Personal Logo Critique

So I've been playing around with my own personal logo today while business is slow, I want to go ahead and redo everything to match including stationary, promo items, and the site....I guess as everyone know your own logo is the hardest. Anyways I'm just mostly brainstorming and doodling at this point, but I want to know everyone's opinion. I personally like 3 and 8....and possibly 4 or 5 if i could come up with the color scheme.

Background: The name Lost Spots came from the CMYK printing technique that uses four spots to make all the colors...

I don't love any of them to be honest, but I'd choose #8.

Don't like the name sounds like a clearasil campaign, don't like the typography or the balance with the CMY dots feels very dated, looks like a logo for a print house I suppose.

Aye it is the font, it just doesn't work. Go for green all you want but the rest needs a lot of work, 'm preferring the sort of jumbling of the dots you have going on there but they need simplifying or structuring I think, they're too chaotic and fussy for a strong logo...

nobody likes garamond? lol i've tried it in different fonts, and i didn;t like the look of others....any suggestions?....also in the next version i ended up deleting some of the circles to make it look a little less chaotic...even though that was the point

I like Garamond plenty, but how you're treating is kinda nasty. Try the other weights, try some capitals even, some ligatures perhaps...

Can go for chaos if you like but a logo has to work in lots of sizes and you can get across a point with less detail than you had... And why is chaos the point? What feel are you trying to put across?

I haven't really gotten to go in too depth with type yet, as i'm just trying to get the logo and layout down first...i just used garamond pro bold with a bit of kerning. i've tried it at different sizes and don't see an issue...i just might have to darken the lightest green on the "lost"...as for the chaotic feel, the name is "lost" spots, so I am going for the lost chaotic feel that gets filtered out..also thinking in terms of how clients always "know" what they want in their heads...hence the thought bubble look.

edit: i think i am liking the regular style better than bold, looks neater and less bubbly pop....but i've always like the lowercase version of the name better....just flows better IMO

Actually I asked for a criticism not an opinion. Saying "boring" doesn't help me at all. Saying why does.

He's Russian with dubious grasp of English language, what was your excuse there lol

I think what he meant was that what you made anyone could, as a designer you have to push it further and do something beyond what anyone could throw together

And welcome to reality, C&C isn't always clear cut spoon feeding, sure boring isn't hugely useful, but it shows you're not doing something right and it's a different response from everything else so it can spur you in a new direction, something with a point of interest, something to make it exceptional and outstanding... Constructive doesn't neccessarily mean giving you that answer.

Already sticking to lighter weight's of garamond will make a big difference... Personally I'm still not feeling that a logo using the concept that client's are a bit shit is a very positive spin on how the relationship between you and clients can develop, but it's your call to make it into something that "just feels right".

And sometimes nothing can be said more than something "feeling right" as annoying and unhelpful and obtuse as that is. There is an emotional and psychological element to design and art and anything visual (sounds a lot deeper than it is but still)
