The Different Sort of Logo
I am after a logo which is to do with magic... The site name is: Smagic and the website is related to me being a magician... I was thinking about a star with an S in it or something as such... Will I need to pay for this logo? And how much? Thanks |

I noticed you saying in the thread about your website elsewhere on this forum you said you won't know anything about the industry unless you're told so I will as this applies to logos (and all graphic design, and web design). They don't come free, at least not decent ones (even bad ones don't), I don't really know why Herr Kurm is entertaining this for a moment but if you're happy with what he produces for nothing, just be aware usually you get what you pay for, 2 pounds of design, 2 pound logo. Designing an identity can take depending on nature and complexity anything from half a day (can happen if something just clicks) to days and weeks of revisions and fine tuning. And that happens at an hourly rate. And it isn't a cheap industry as these skills aren't worthless, 20 pounds an hour wouldn't even begin to push at some of the higher end fees, though plenty would possibly charge much less for something like a small quick ident which is probably what you're looking for. (I don't freelance often so if any people with more realistic hourly rates want to chip in with their two cents, I'm going off a rose tinted of seeing what freelancers charge the agency I work at) The other options open to you are online websites which knock out dozens of logos a week often from pre-existing elements, there is very little creativity or originality involved but they are cheap and fast and might suit your needs. Just googled these up can find many more this way. http://thelogocompany.net/ ($149) http://20dollarlogo.com/ ($20 up) |

you pay when you are sactisfied with the work but you must have an agreement first - there should be a minimal sum agreed to and additional work will be added to that. Well, I dont personally like working by hourly wage but its up to you who you choose to do all the designing labor |

the designer usually wants his money so if he has done the sketches, developed some of them and you are confident about the final outcome (if you arent then its usually about crappy designer) he has finished his work and as you send the designer his money he'll send you the files. What would be the purpose of keeping those files to himself, he cant use that logo/corp identity for anything else, it is way easier just to give you those darn files then deleting your emails form his mailbox |
