Logo for a bistro

Hey,

A friend of mine is working on a bistro that's supposed to open in about a year and they're still working on their identity. The name of the bistro is "Café Bistro Utopique", which would be the equivalent of "Utopian Café Bistro" in english. So, what I made, is not the official logo but the sign, panel that will be seen outside the café. Here it is:

I used Avenir for "Café Bistro" and Hill House for "Utopique." So, what do you think?

I was looking to mix something classic(Avenir) with something artsy(Hill House). I don't want to do something too elegant cause after all, this is a bistro for students. But any other criticisms?

Yea i understand what your saying, the audience so to speak might be of new age rather then older. How about trying a century gothic or frutiger. more of a thin looking font. I dont know what the font is called but the font in the popular US store called LOFT is pretty cool, very thin..

I think that's Helvetica Neue Thin. I'll see what I can do. I guess I tried something with Hill House 'cause it seemed very artsy.

not sure about the green, not really screamin "Art Nouveau" to me. Maybe a different tone of Green! although its more of a contemporary green which maybe interesting!!... whats the decor of the Bistro gonna be like, if its a contemporary minimal/art nouveau cross then maybe... but thats gonna be a bastard for the interior decorator to pull off! if it isn't a cross!!! then change your green to another one!
oh.... i know its gonna be seen from a distance so the kerning in "utopique" need to be relaxed... but it maybe alittle too relaxed!....

Thanks cocknose, but do you maybe have a green in mind? I defintly need something relaxed/artsy/modern, but I'm not sure what green that would be.

And Mr Fred, I'm just scared that Didot, Mendoza and Ambroise are not gonna give it that modern feel. Maybe I should replace Avenir with something like Helvetica Neue Thin, Akzidenz Grotesk or a kind of Futura?

Pantone 555 might work. Splits well.

If you are creating artwork for print you should have some sort of colour reference to the printing inks you are using. You can't rely on your screen display. The Pantone reference (spot to process) will also show you how a specified colour splits into CMYK. Pantone 555 should look much the same split to CMYK (C=83 M=0 Y=56 K=56).
